Apple & Cherry Picking Weekend!!
9/28/2013
Today I am starting a new journey. A journey where I will share all our weekend fun activities, pics, post, views and thoughts on a blog which will make our US memories everlasting (wherever we land after July 2014!)
Weekend Background:
All Work and No Play last week :-)
Last week was very hectic and tough for me. As the current project (a very high profile for the firm) is going live, I and my whole 50+ member team have been burning mid-night oil to ensure that the new product is launched successfully. The results have been encouraging so far! Days have got longer and nights have got "late"! When you take bottom line of a project, then the real fun begins and what I have realized in large organizations is a true "80:20" rule. 20% percent of team does 80% work and vice versa... The project has been an awesome transition for me from Project Manager to a true "Program Manager"! Also, reached out today to my old boss in Amex to thank him for the initial support and mentoring I received in 2008 when I first came to US.. Those initial days are always remembered no matter how far you go.
Friday Evening
After long time, I saw a good hindi movie "Lunch Box". Acting, Story everything was very fabulous. We also watched "Comedy Circus", it was great fun too... We prepared my favorite "Bhel" on Friday and enjoyed the movie.. Overall went very well..
Saturday
Woke up late. Watched a Brad Pitt movie "Money Ball". Real good movie on baseball.
Had no plans for the day till my dear friend Mr Abhay called for an outing @ 2.30 PM... I was willing to go right off the bat as we needed a break.. Fortunately we were able to get ready in record time of 20 min (which in itself is a record for me, Aditi and Arya thanks to lot of missed calls from Abhay :-)) and got into our Altima for a 45 min awesome ride to Eddy's Fruit Farm. In hurry, we forgot whether we locked our home door, so I had Aditi call Beena to confirm whether everything was good... As always everything was fine :-). Yogesh and Trupti also joined us ...
This place was simply awesome. There were ton of people in the farm. I really liked the concept. You pickup a plastic bag , go all over the farm to collect apples and grapes and then bill them on the counter. You can eat and taste as many apples and grapes as you like (or possibly can!) We took some awesome pictures and Arya enjoyed the most. This is her first true summer in Cleveland and kids always enjoy in the company of other kids...
Also, Yogesh and Abhay are one of the best people I have met in USA. They are easy going and adapt/absorb any new people joining the group . Plus their kids are of Arya's age so overall it works pretty well for all of us!
Then we had a lot of photo sessions in the farm. Possible best use of the DSLR camera we got last thanksgiving. We returned home around 6.30ish. Then we had some light dinner and welcomed everyone for cards in the evening.
It was nice little get-together/party in the evening. Great food, cards, discussions etc. All in all it was well managed and conducted event at our house. After everyone left we saw "Big Boss" in the night. I haven't been following this show since beginning, but was pulled in :-) But it was good...
Sunday
Went for Jacuzzi, Swimming in the morning. Not feeling very well so taking additional rest today. Watched some T20 cricket. Planning to work this evening for next weeks project installs. Need to ensure everything goes smoothly...
That's all for today guyz.
Enjoy,
Rohit
